DEVÍN CASTLE
lies on the north-western edge of Bratislava standing on hill rising above the confluence of the Danube and the Morava rivers. Majestic castle played an important role in city´s history. Archeological excavations have revealed surviving remains of a prehistoric settlement, later Celtic oppidum, Roman army campsite and traces of the Slavs in the time of the Great Moravian Empire. A castle was built on the top of the rock at the 13th century existing till 1809 when Napoleonic troops blew it up. Partially renovated offers a spectacular view over the unique locality and neighboring Austria.
BRATISLAVA CASTLE
perched on a large, rocky hill above Danube River, one of the most prominent structures in the city, playing an important role in its history. The castle hill site has been continuously inhabited for several thousand years, Bratislava´s stronghold is first mentioned in 907. Since the mid-16th century when Bratislava became the coronation city of the Hungarian Kingdom, royal crown jewels were stored here. Palace reached its glory during the reign of the most famous Austria-Hungarian Queen Maria Theresa. Immerse in time of the kings and queens by the thoughts and enjoy the Danube river view.
